CleanTurn has a team of 30+ individuals from a diversity of backgrounds and experiences but all committed to the same mission!  Our staff are fully equipped and trained to execute with a standard that far exceeds general expectations. 

We view our customers as strategic partners in our mission and our focus is professional execution accomplished in the most safe and efficient manner possible.

CleanTurn is focused on reducing the social costs associated with poverty, recidivism, substance abuse and chronic unemployment through an innovative and self-sustaining model focused on leveraging market opportunities in the service industry!

Management Team

John Rush, President/ CEO

John is a social entrepreneur with a distinct focus on leveraging business as means for creating training and employment opportunities for ex-offenders and others with significant obstacles to employment. After serving in operations in Haiti and the Mediterranean as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, John focused his career on empowering those impacted by poverty and incarceration. John served as Managing Director of nationally recognized Cleanslate and President of 180 Properties in Chicago. Most recently, John partnered with several socially conscious investors to launch CleanTurn. CleanTurn was awarded the 2012 Honda Empowerment Award by the Columbus Urban League and recognized by Mayor Coleman’s Restoration Academy in Columbus Ohio as the first private company partner for hiring Restoration Academy participants. John has served on several nonprofit boards including Accion Chicago, RefugeeOne and NHS Redevelopment Corporation. John is a current Board Director with the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association, Lower Lights, Chair of the Nominating Committee for Columbus' new Greater Columbus Growing Coalition, and he also serves on the Consulting Board for Central Ohio’s downtown YMCA and the Preservation Committee at the Columbus Landmarks Foundation. John holds five Master's degrees focused on urban studies, religion, history, non-profit management and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

Jimmy Schoenfeld, Director of Operations

Jimmy received his Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  Jimmy spent several years working and serving with faith-based organizations in Rome, Italy and New York City, where he focused on community development, education and spiritual enrichment.  Jimmy is responsible for CleanTurn's finance, administration and general operations.

Larry Hadley, Grounds Keeping Field Supervisor

Larry has extensive experience in lawn maintenance, snow removal and janitorial services.  Larry's diverse professional background and management experience are a huge value to CleanTurn's mission.  Larry supervises CleanTurn's grounds keeping services and ensures each customer has a perfect mow, line-trim and edge to their mulch beds!

Darnell Kirkwood, Demo/Decon Field Supervisor

Darnell has extensive training and work experience in general maintenance, electrical, painting/drywall and handyman services.  Darnell started at CleanTurn as a Field Associate but his hard work, commitment to excellence, ability to lead and take ownership led to his role as Field Supervisor.  Darnell spearheads interior demolition, deconstruction and salvage projects in the field and supervises each team to ensure quality and timely execution.

Board of Directors

Mark Brereton, Secretary/Treasurer

_Mark is an accomplished business executive with over 38 years of experience in companies ranging from Fortune 200 to small, closely-held corporations.  He has been with TECSYS, a Canadian public company, since 1993, serving in a number of senior management positions.  Mark also chairs the board of a private equity firm.  In addition to Mark's extensive business experience he is an active volunteer in his community serving in several board capacities.

Ryan Elsass, Partner

_Ryan is currently employed by Goldman Sachs & Co. as a Associate in the PSC Alternative Advisory Group.  Before joining Goldman Sachs, Ryan was a financial process consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers and an FMP for General Electric.  In addition to his work in finance, Ryan co-founded and continues to manage the Senders Foundation, a Chicago-based, non-profit charity.  Ryan received his Bachelors of Science in Finance with a specialization in Psychology from Michigan State University, and he is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Economics at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Doyle Hartman, Partner

Doyle is an engineer and has managed his own consulting business, Hartman Engineering, for approximately 20 years.  Prior to starting his own firm, he worked in a management position at DLZ, Inc.  He is on the board of a local ministry, currently serving as Vice President, and he has served in several leadership positions in his local church.

Dr. Mark Longbrake, Partner

_Dr. Mark Longbrake received an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics with specializations in monetary economics and finance from The Ohio State University.  He is currently teaching economics and corporate finance in several MBA programs.  Prior to graduate school Mark worked in the corporate finance division of a boutique investment banking firm.  Mark is also the President of the Board for the Longbrake Family Foundation and serves as a Partner with the St. Louis branch of Social Venture Partners.

Mark Ramsey, Partner

_Mark is a highly successful executive currently providing advice and counsel to USA companies with East-West Associates.  He has over 30 years of experience as a manufacturing executive with a Fortune 500 company and just concluded a five-year assignment in China as General Manager for a medical device manufacturing firm.  Mark has served on a number of Boards over the years and is currently an active Board member for a private social outreach organization in California. He and his wife have lived in China at various times over the past 15 years. 

John Rule, Partner

_John is a retired accomplished business executive with 38 years of experience at CAS: the worlds most authoritative source and comprehensive source for chemical information.  He held increasingly responsible IT positions in computer and systems design followed by 25 years of managerial positions in data base and systems development.  He is currently a wellness consultant in the health care field and is Vice President of a private Canadian corporation owning commercial real estate.  In addition to John's business experience he has been active in the community and serves on several boards focusing on the needs of the homeless, orphans and those struggling with addictions.

Joseph Sjostrom, Partner

Joe is an Information Technology executive for Chemical Abstracts Service with over 25 years of experience in large-scale software systems development.  Prior to embarking on his IT career, he was a high school Math/Physics teacher and also attended graduate school at THE Ohio State University earning a Master’s degree in mathematics.  Joe and his wife, Tami, provide sponsorship for an on-campus OSU Christian ministry and are active supporters of a number of local and global mission ventures.
